It was about 7:00 and I was bored off my ass. The phone wasn't ringing, there were no visitors visiting, it was dead as a tomb. There was an Arthritis Support Group meeting planned at 7:00pm. The kitchen girl I was talking with set up a cart for this meeting filled with coffee, juice, water, cookies, and donuts. Two people showed up for the meeting both at different intervals and left right away. Jessica (the kitchen girl) and I were both upset. We left the front desk and I proceeded to close the conference room, where they would be meeting, and she took the snack cart out of there.

She brought the cart into the kitchen and since there was so much food on the cart, we decided to treat the staff on both ends. First we went to the East side and treated most of the staff there, as we were leaving the East side, the phone started to ring off the hook. I would have answered it, but since we just installed the new phones, I don't know how to use the ones on the ends, only mine. There was plenty of staff at the desk to answer the phone and after they transferred it, it would start ringing again off the hook.

As we were walking to the West side the RN on duty came around the corner and started to yell at me. She was like, "Where have you been? We've been trying to get this poor lady her call but the call doesn't get transferred. If we aren't going to have a receptionist at the desk, then we really need to work out a way to get the calls to the residents." I knew that this was a direct slander towards me. I deserved it. I thought it was going to be another bitching about the phones, but to include me in on it. I felt guilty.

I wanted to cry. Judy, the RN, is one of the best that we have at Pleasant View. She is so nice and kind to everybody. I don't want her to be angry with me.

After the confrontation with Judy I returned to the desk and started to type in here. Has the phone rang yet? No, of course not. The damn people had to fucking call while I was away from the desk for no more than ten minutes, but when I return, it's got to be dead silent again. What bullshit is that? I hate when that happens. It happened before on the old phone too. Whenever I would transfer the phone to the ends and use the restroom, I could always hear the phone ringing while I was sitting on the pot.

People get so pissed off at you when something like that happens. It's not my fault I had to pee. It is my fault though that I wanted to leave the desk to pass out snacks to the staff. If I had just stayed where I was, I would have transferred the damn phone to the correct person.

Why doesn't the bitch who gets all of the calls get a damn personal phone in her room? Then maybe we wouldn't be in a situation like this. God damn people that have to call just at that time when you're not there and they continuously call until you've sat your ass back down. I feel like they are sitting out in the parking lot, waiting to see if I leave the desk, then they call, like some sort of fucked up test for me. Fuck off to them. I can't wait till fuckin friday.
